Nanda lives in southern Nias (an island located off the western coast of Sumatra, Indonesia), a small village with houses on piles. Her ancestors were traditional healers and served as an alternative to conventional modern medicine. She earns a living with other matriarch diaspora members by cooking traditional Indonesian dishes and selling them on the street, following family recipes that have been protected for generations. Nanda speaks Indonesian, Minankabau, Nias, and sign language and has mastered the basics of Japanese and oceanic English. She has a secondary school education (grammar school).

🎯 User goal

Nanda desires to move abroad with a greater perspective, learn new things, and enrich herself, and she believes that she has a chance to succeed. She enjoys gastronomy. Nanda would like to learn modern cooking methods and work in a successful restaurant. Nanda has a clear idea. She does not want to receive job offers for cleaning hotel rooms alike. She needs to get the attention of suitable employers who, in addition to the job offer, finance her qualifications and pay for her transport. Nanda wants to go to work in Japan, preferably in Osaka, which, for her, is an ideal model of modern gastronomy and food tradition. She knows that Japan is opening up to foreigners to support their economy. She knows she needs help getting a work permit.

Scenario

We will show Nanda's experience with the PW platform and how Job Giver will connect with her, thanks to Buddy, she met the conditions for employment, flew to Japan, and started a job.

User backstory

Tourism on the island has become important to the economy, and the coasts popular destinations for surfers. The coastal areas were devastated by a tsunami generated by a massive undersea earthquake. The island has not yet fully recovered from the environmental disaster and is not promising for her ambitions.

She is the middle one of three sisters.

Nanda is proficient in using her mobile phone and internet.

She plans to support her sisters and the diaspora financially soon.

User action While browsing the Internet for recipes from famous chefs and dreaming of working in a high-quality restaurant, she also found the P.W. website. Out of curiosity, she clicked the WORK button. The website automatically adapted to Indonesian. The chatbot offered the option to speak some dialects from the region. Nanda also activated the virtual assistant's voice. Nanda authenticated herself biometrically. After biometric authentication, Nanda was automatically redirected to the evaluation questionnaire. However, after a few questions and answers, her sister interrupted her, and she closed the assessment with a simple movement of her finger. She was pleased when she joined P.W. again. After confirming the biometric authentication, the virtual assistant asked her if she wanted to continue filling out the questionnaire or if she wanted to start the assessment again. She confirmed her interest in continuing and completed the evaluation. She immediately gained access to the Dashboard. She filled in her email address, phone number, and family name, and selected a digital avatar of animated chef from the available options. Next, she filled in the country and village where she lives. She is ashamed about providing her gender, sex, and birthday, so she only states her age. In the section on personal signs, she stated that she belongs to an autochthonous group and professes Buddhism. She has been watching cooking shows of Japanese chefs for a long time. Wants to Japan, Nanda marks Osaka in the perimeter because she heard from tourists that it is a very nice city. From the life intersection need calculator, she chose transportation and housing. She is ready to pay for modest accommodation from her salary. Nanda holds a graduation certificate from the girls' high school. The hotel complex, where she cooks local food with her sisters and family for tourist tours, has received a written evaluation of customer satisfaction. By simply turning on the camera on her phone, she scanned and thus uploaded the documents to P.W. After marking the perimeter, P.W. offered her to take a Japanese language test. After evaluating a simple test, she suggested a Japanese course corresponding to her beginner's level. Nanda quickly got the hang of it, and after just two weeks, she had already received a development rate of improvement in this language from grade 1 to grade 2. This rating appeared on her Personal Pitch. She immediately received a direct message from the technological High School on the university campus of Osaka, which showed an interest in the school kitchen. They were impressed by her interest in Japan and also gastronomy. The school canteen cooks only from healthy ingredients according to modern cooking procedures for 1000 students from Japan and abroad. They will gladly pay for her plane ticket and offer her accommodation in a student dormitory. However, they had some questions to address and expressed interest in an interview through the P.W. platform. Buddy immediately reached out to her and introduced himself. To her surprise, she discovered that he was her high school language teacher. This background gave her a sense of trust in him. Buddy discussed her upcoming interview and conveyed his confidence in her abilities. After she completed the interview, they exchanged messages several times while waiting for a response from the Job Giver. Nanda met the vacancy acceptance conditions. The Job Giver arranged for her a work permit and sent her a plane ticket on the agreed date and also transport & housing instructions in Japan. Buddy drove her to the airport.
