:bust-in-silhouette:Jorge

Jorge worked all his life as a herder on a large farm, leading a group of shepherds, transporting fodder, and trading cattle. Jorge lives with his family and the families of his brothers in the Venezuelan countryside. The economic crisis led to the bancrupt of the farm owner and Jorge and all the workers on the farm lost their jobs. He is 51 years old, and his native language is Spanish, but he also understands English. He worked manually all his life. He has a driver's license.

🎯 User goal

Jorge needs to pay his family's expenses, so he desperately needs a job. Several people from their region have successfully moved to the US for work. Illegal work. He is determined to do any job he can. He hopes to continue working with his brothers and the old crew. They head to the US-Mexico border. The journey to the border is not too difficult, but he is worried about what will happen at the border, whether he will be able to cross legally, and how quickly take a job so that he can send money to his family (wife and three children) who rely on him.

Scenario

We will show Jorge's experience with the PW platform and how, thanks to recommendations, he supplemented his skills, connected with a Job Giver and, thanks to Buddy, met the legal conditions for entering the US territory.

User backstory

In the homeland, long-term political-economic crises result in a collapsing economy.

Jorge has a natural respect for the team.

If he finds a promising job, he will try to get his family to follow him.

User action The journey across Mexico was challenging for Jorge and his brothers and mates, but his main concern was what would happen at the border and how he would secure a legal job. He is also concerned about whether his wife and children can follow him to the USA. Jorge had not heard of the P.W. platform until now. A few kilometers before reaching the border, he noticed other migrants from South and Central America. While there, he spoke with them, who advised him to look for the P.W. meetup point, which is at every border crossing. When he arrived at the border, he searched for the P.W meeting point, where he was greeted by Buddy, who introduced him to the P.W platform and answered all questions. Although Jorge is literate and owns a push-button mobile phone with camera, he has never used a computer. Buddy personally assisted him by setting up a secure P.W email address in just a minute and activated a voice assistant to help him navigate the platform. After clicking the WORK button, the voice-controlled chatbot prompted him to view the SMS messages on his phone and enter the received PIN in the selected fields on the page. He also advised him to read and consent to the processing of his data, all in Spanish. In the P.W. meeting point were computer booths. After Jorge authenticated using the mobile phone, the Chatbot offered him the option of answering the questionnaire by voice or pressing letters or numbers on the keyboard. Jorge chose the keyboard because he was afraid that would hear his strong voice despite the soundproofing of the booth. After completing the assessment, his results with his highscore affinity for manual work and inclination for agriculture and production became visible on his Personal Pitch, and the fields on his Profile were made available to him for further filling. Jorge focused on filling the perimeter, where he marked the USA, ready to accept an offer anywhere. He chose from the codebooks and marked his age (51) and the country he was living in (Venezuela). Jorge took a picture of himself and his driver's license with his phone and sent them to be stored on the platform. P.W. platform recognized the documents, saved them, and, following the consent granted, made them visible on Personal Pitch. As soon as all the data became visible on his personal Pitch, he received personalized messages from P.W Partners with help to cross the borders, a free medical examination, the provision of a temporary residence permit, the establishment of a free bank account, and the provision of temporary accommodation and food. He closely left the P.W meetpoint booth, where his brother had replaced him and had already received a notification in the form of an SMS about a personalized message about a job offer with a contact number for a free callback through the P.W platform gateway from a logistics company from California that had expressed interest in a job interview. At the P.W. meeting point, he looked for Buddy, who gave him access to the P.W. computer, whose logs are recorded by the migration office. Thanks to this, he can ask for financial support and other services supported by the International Organization for Migration. In the case of smartphone, he would receive the notification directly. He authenticated to his Dashboard and in the Sky of vacancies section with Buddy they saw not only an offer from a logistics company but also other suitable vacancies. He was interested in an offer from a Louisiana ranch with fattening cattle and machining herbs for oil, where he could also come with his brothers and, in the future, his wife and children. To be sure, he immediately connected with the first offer, and then connected with the farm through the P.W platform. Both interviews were successful, Louisiana confirmed after consideration and a phone call with the wife. Buddy took him on a P.W community tent with other migrants for a few days, where he waited for the documents to be processed. He learned from his comrades that they had also agreed, that one would work as a forklift driver, another in a warehouse of a retail chain. Their paths diverge, but thanks to the community created in the P.W. platform, they keep in touch.
